How a Fly stopped Black Caviar

What we learned from the best racehorse in the land.
  • Don't back a horse dropping down from 1400 to 1000, or even a little less severe a drop to a sprint distance.
  • Don't back odds on in top grade races.
Train travelling west at 100km's per hour ..... Fly travelling east at 20km's per hour. Fly smashes into train's windscreen and goes from travelling east at 20km's per hour to being squashed and travelling west at 100km's per hour ..... BUT ..... at some stage, the fly was stationary. The fly being attached to the train at the time it was stationary, means that the train was stationary too. Read Steven Hawking before you think this is crazy.

He maybe smart & stuff when it comes to flies stuck to trains.

But can he pick a little winner.

Well, with the length of my teeth, I shouldn't be complaining especially as I haven't backed BC ONCE, but I've backed 15 placed horses (some the same horse of course) from 19 races. (me being a an avid place bettor)

After the "GOd" you would think I'd learn but nah! I go and back Haylist for the place ($1.50c) when I could have easily backed it EW at 12-1 i.e Evens the place for yer money, WHY didn't I??????

I may not be as smart as Steve Hawking , but I do know the last thing that went through the flies head.

It rhymes with glass.

Seriously, Black Caviar jumped 1/4 to 1/2 length better than normal and Hay List's jockey said it was only race fitness that beat his mount. BC's jockey thought he was going to be beaten too. All in all, a really brilliant effort ..... BUT after that gut buster ..... how will BC go next start ???

If they,ve got any brains it will be the spelling paddock.

Barny 21st February 2012 03:40 PM

Totally agree Darkydog. Even Peter Moody could get caught up in the hype .... you never know. History is littered with "sensible" people making, in hindsight of course, what turned out to be a dumb decision.

I'd love to see her go and blow the poms to smithereens !!!!!!!!!, then we'll get the ashes back !!!!!

partypooper 22nd February 2012 12:10 AM

I agree entirely, SPELL! but of course we are not privy to what the trainer sees every day!

But the STRAW that will break the Camels back has already been identified!!

I hope I manage to back it EW this time!!

Sanity prevails, the mighty mare is off for a spell.

Do you get the feeling Moody is messing with all of our heads??!!!

Well she clearly ran the 1400m to suit the 1200m track at Ascot. With the ease of the run the mare needed more. But Hay list put the challenge to her.

to say Hay List didn't have the fitness levels at peak is a croc. HL may improve half to 1 length next run but that is still not enough. 4 times 4 losses against the mare. Just coming off 1400m didn't suit her and then running track record over 1000m no horse was going to beat her especially easing on the line.

Horses are a day by day business too which Moody treats it!
