Time for video referee in soccer

What a joke, a penalty to some clown that can't stand on his own 2 feet.

When will this game move in to the 21st century and use video referees

Yeah, biggest sport in the world, but just about the most primitive when it comes to using technology. Amazingly, there are quite a few Soccer "experts" who are quite happy with the decision and reckon it WAS a penalty. I think that's part of the problem. A lot of the people involved with the sport are so used to all this diving, they think this sort of thing is perfectly reasonable. Whereas most of us who've grown up following other sports just can't stand it. No way was that a penalty. And I'm a Roar supporter!

Yep much the same comment here except I'm a Glory fan :(

I don't even think it was a dive, looked like he just was off balance and fell over.

Berisha was clipped from behind, which unbalanced him, so it was a penalty if Berisha was not off side. Problem was Berisha was clearly off side as the ball was played to him and this was not picked up!!

"When Thomas Broich played the defence-splitting pass, Berisha was off-side.

Watch the video at the top of the page to see the evidence in freeze-frame.

"This is where Perth have every right to be angry, " Fox Sports football commentator Brenton Speed said on Fox Sports News Long Lunch.

"Besart Berisha is goal-side as Thomas Broich is playing that pass.

"That’s where Perth have the ability to be up in arms because that should have never been allowed to be play on, then we go to extra time and we see what happens in half an hour."

Todays West Australian newspaper:

"Referees boss Mark Shield says under-fire official Jarred Gillett got it right when he awarded Brisbane Roar an injury-time penalty in Sunday's A-League grand final.

But Perth Glory owner Tony Sage says the call was wrong and wants Football Federation Australia to explain the rationale behind the appointment of a Queensland referee whose girlfriend works for the Roar media department."

Bookmakers Sportsbet have decided to refund all bets placed on Glory to win the title, including those placed earlier in the season.

Dubbing the decision the "justice refund", Sportsbet said the match was decided by a controversial decision and anyone who bet on a draw at the end of regular play would also get a refund.
