2442 days
Yes 2442 days - 'well what's that' you say?
Well that would be the number of days since the last start of one 11yo mare named Wildcoast who raced yesterday in race 6 at Quirindi. 'Surely you jest?' you say. Well I am afraid not. See some of racing's fine minds got together a while back & thought 'Hey, she wasn't too bad in her day & has gotten over that recent foal delivery without any problems, let's trial her for kicks' & low & behold the plucky mare wins the trial. So the geniuses are on a roll now & think 'well there's a tidy little sprint race on Quirindi Cup Day, why not have a crack'. & to complete this masterful plan, stewards allow it all to happen. This industry really does leave me scratching my head at times & I have only 2 questions for those involved - 1. What possible upside was there to this? 2. Sit back for a second & imagine instead of finishing tailed off, she broke down. Do you think your story & maybe even your mug shots might be in few newspapers over the coming days? Delusional ********ers. |
I can tell you exactly what they were thinking, and it's disgraceful.
The horse is 11yo and been off the track for more than 6 years :( They figure, put her in work, if she wins even a half decent race, the foal will fetch a better price and any future progeny will increase in value as well. What they didn't think of, was what you correctly pointed out. Very sad. |
