Warning!!!!...If you have not upgraded to Windows 10
I read today that Microsoft is doing automatic updates of windows 10, so if you are on 7,8,8.1 i would go in and change your updates so they don't auto install.
If you are willing to give Windows 10 a go i would do a clean install and not an update, that means saving all your files and emails and anything else like web favs. To download windows 10 for free go here. https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/sof...nload/windows10 I recommend downloading the ISO that way you can burn to DVD or install from a USB device if needed. If you don't currently have a copy of your windows disk, a lot don't as you are supposed to make a copy if you didn't buy a retail version you can download an ISO of your exact version here. Windows 7 https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/sof...wnload/windows7 Windows 8.1 https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/sof...wnload/windows8 Do it as a backup |
Tried Windows 10 on a second drive, sorry but I cannot stand it.
Couldn't get either browser to work properly. And the app business is more for a tablet or laptop or phone. (Yes I turned off tablet mode) I'll be sticking with Windows 7 Ultimate for now. I know exactly why it's free, they want you to purchase apps from the store and use your info for their purposes. (I turned all that off also). |
I asked our IT Consultant if I should upgrade to Windows 10. He gave a one word reply: "NO."
By the way, I suggest if you search for upgrades and Microsoft gives you a list of "Important Upgrades" don't automatically approve them for download but check what the upgrades are. Windows 10, which hasn't been there so far, might just happen to be included. |

Here is my earlier thread on installing Windows 10 and the privacy issue, so far i don't have problems with it, i don't use the tiles and wouldn't bother with the app store but can understand sticking with 7. http://www.ozmium.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=30938 |
I have windows 10 on a laptop and a tablet. No problems , everything works as normal. But it is early days yet.

Look guys - if you are at all worried that Microsoft could install it on your computer without you knowing, and don't tell me that's not possible, here is a little program that will stop that happening and still allow you to install Windows 10 down the track.
It's all free and the site makes good reading for what has and might happen. It's called GWX Control Panel. Just google it and you'll be right. I've had it on my computer for about six months now and no probs. |
