In another thread Twodogs said of Darkydog:

Professer Darkydog is the man with the best handle on the Wizard I know.

You certainly seemed to have mastered the mysteries of the Wizard darkydog. Could you give us a quick idiots guide to using the Wizard and how to get the best out of it. Your system posts are much appreciated but a bit arcane for non-Wizard users like me. I could never get the hang of the Wizard but those that use it swear by it.

Cheers

Thank you and twodogs for your kind comments.
First I would go to http://www.everyrace.com and download all Warrens explanations on the various aspects of his form format.
In my opinion the WIZARD is the ROLLS ROYCE of form.Nothing in the world compares to it.
What I find important are
WT/TIME ratings 92 - 100
FIELD STRENGTH TO +3
EARLY SPEED /ON PACE HORSES
DISTANCES 1200 - 1600
PLACED HORSES 1200 to 1600 =GOOD RACE =WITHIN 2 LENGTHS OF THE WINNER
FURTHER DISTANCES - GOOD RACE = WITHIN 3 LENGTHS OF WINNER.
There are a million things you could consider in a race but these are the barest essentials I would look for. This is my starting point.
I would also look for smaller fields rather than larger ones (less interference).I like them UP to 10 horses and my distance ranges would be around the 1300 mark on average.
Hope that helps .
Warmest regards.
darky.

Many thanks for that darkydog. I went to the Wizard website, read Warren's stuff and was none the wiser. So I read it again. I think I've got a handle on some of it now. It is a remarkable body of research. I can see why it has its fans. My personal problem is that its restricted to Sat. meets, whereas Sat. is usually my family day (also I lose on Sats. historically).I like the form cycle stuff. Very interesting. Also the Running Style data which I can adapt to a barrier scheme I have tried.

Since I prefer simple systems (comes from manual sampling) my eye is drawn to the panels.

How do the race poll results go over-all, do you know? How accurate are the published odds in general?

I'II buy a copy tommorow and have a look on Sat.

Cheers

Hermes
