Putting a bet on the horses is getting to be a complicated affair if you're looking for the absolute best price. Now that the new IAS format seems a disappointment (am I the only one who wants a little bit better than all the TABs, rather than the chance of a lot better than one TAB?) that leaves me with only one site that offers that exact facility. But only for the "win". If I want something similar for the place, I have to go to another site with a very similar name to get equal to the best "place" price. My regular trifecta betting leads me back to IAS, as does their "fixed price" odds. And that controversial British company is a must for the same thing.

But how many sites can I keep open at one time? Add to those my internet radio so I can actually listen to the nags I've got money on (I am living overseas, afterall) and my online formguide and it's no wonder my system crashes consistently.

Or am I just being greedy searching for the best odds for all the different bet types?

Yes!

Seriously though, I suppose what you're looking for is all the best aspects of all the different punting websites all on the one site. I think we all want that. It would be some sort of punting website heaven!!!

You must admit that punters do have it WAY better than they used to. I can remember back to when I started punting in the late 70s. There was certainly no internet, there was a lot less info in form guides, a lot less racing to bet on, not as many bet types to choose from, you had to put TAB bets on about 45 minutes before the jump, and there was also no Sky Channel. People in TABs used to just listen to the races instead of watch them. The Sydney race blackout on the weekend sure brought back some memories!

Monkeyinjapan, Get an account with DIAL A BET in Vanuatu. You can bet right up until the jump and take best price plus which is an extra on top of whichever of the 3 TAB's pays the highest dividend OR you can also take the bookies price if you think it is better than the TAB's.I have been using it for years and is an excellent service.

Monkey
Not asking for too much, one day it may all be available simply & quickly.

Sportz
Next Saturday, get onto http://www.stc.com.au to SEE the races.

Thanks for the advice/comments. But unfortunately I can't access http://www.stc.com.au because I'm not in Australia (the site rejects me automatically) and Dial-A-Bet has a betting minimum of $20 which is a tad too high for me.

I'm not complaining about the range of betting options available, just that all of them seem to be on different sites. It takes me half an hour just to sign in on a Saturday morning!

Mark,
I used STC on Sat and cost me dearly, as I always bet at the last sec chasing odds, but no one said it was a DELAYED broadcast, went to put my bet on AFTER they had jumped ????????

Mark 22nd March 2004 10:43 PM

Yes Kenchar, I found that out on the first. Had the radio on, they were racing, on the net, still going in.

Monkeyinjapan, l reckon your best bet might be to invest in a high performance PC with a high speed broadband connection that is capable of handling all the data at one time. And yes l think we've all been stung with the 'so called' live internet broadcast which is actually delayed.
