Some form guides class 60 days as a spell and others 90 days.
Is there an actual official period??????

some guides use 90 days.

i suggest 42

my idea of a spell is 3 months, so i'd say 90 days.

OK,
So lets say we are working a system out and one of the rules is that the nag has had to had at least 2 runs from a spell.
Just for an example lets say using the unitab ratings and previous form as the base for the system and one looks at a nag and all your rules say it is a bet.
Then you look into lets say cyberhorse and they class the nag as first up and it is not a bet.
So is it a bet or not a bet that is the question????????

A spell is normally 90 days +, let-up 42-90 days and freshened 28-42 days

For practical purposes, the media such as the Sportsman use 84 days as a spell - I personally use 60 days as that is what Price Predictor uses, which makes it convenient when using that programs System Selector.

When is a spell not a spell?

If officially a spell is 90 days, what do you call a break of 88 days? Surely you would not rule out that - one has to be flexible with rules like that.

I always thought 90 days off was called 'Long Service leave' :-****
