Benton,

There is a book written by Roger Biggs and Published by Orion House in Tassie called "ADVENTURES IN HANDICAPPING" and also deals with all Metro Course's Barrier Stats including WA.

Cheers.

Another Biggs book called "Thoroughbred Handicapping Tables" gives barrier RF's by Barrier, Field, and Distance which is about as detailed as you'll need .... of course you must build/program 3-dimensional lookup tables for drawdown purposes, but believe me, it's well worth the effort.

T'bred,

Yeah, got that one too.

Just for interest I ran a little experimental data drill today which you might find useful.

We all know that the more horses there are in a race the more interference is caused. In fact I won't bet a race with more than 12 horses ......... but that's as maybe.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I ran a query on Barriers 1 & 2 against Beaten Distance where the field size is (a) 8 or 9, and (b) 13 or 14, distance 1150 to 1699, going F & G.

What do you reckon ??

Well, the 8/9 field gave an ABD 1.25 len LESS than the 13/14 field so that gives you an idea of the size of the correction you need to apply when handicapping races to allow for field.

It will not, of course, affect those of you who rely on coincidence and place yr faith in "systems"

Yes Iknow.

I was simply endeavouring to point out that there is a difference between B1 in an 8 horse race and B1 in a 14 horse race.

Yeah mate, I was a little slow there.
