Winning Percentages

How's this? It's based on the results of each game no. of wins and loses. You then work out the winning percentage.

I've worked out a formula for calculating the winning percentage of a game.

% = team A - team B = winning %

E.G Port .876
Melb .564

In this example Ports winning percentage would 87.6% to beat Melb, which mean Melb would have a 12.4% chance of winning.

It still needs some work. I hope to have it ready for next years AFL season.

Any thoughts?

What the...?

Sorry Benny, but I can't quite figure out what you're doing.

Benny 6th December 2004 09:26 AM

I'm trying to work out each teams chances of winning.

Yeah, I know that, but I can't quite understand how you're trying to do it.

Is there a simplier way of doing this. Maybe I should work on it a bit. The formula is based on past results in order to predict each teams winning chance so that I can bet on the overlays.

Does that help any?

I'm not the be-all and ebd-all of Things pertaining to AFL,but you've certainly aroused my interest.
Can you tell me where you plucked the .876 and the .564 numbers from please Benny?

I have lots of formulas to sort out overlays from margins and such.

Is just an example.

What sort of fromulas are you talking about? Would like to share some?
