Congratulations Mr Ed (is this really why you do this?)

So how did you stake the day. I've asked wjp the same thing in the previous mail. At least you only have one selection per race.

I consider myself reasonably able to select paying runners, but can still fall short of profit expectations on any given day.

Staking method research is taking up more and more of my time these days to avoid this problem. Any comments?

Mr Ed pleas don't stop I think you are great It's because of you I have only just started winning.Pleeeeee,s keep up the good work.

Mr. Ed 30th April 2002 07:19 PM

My staking is very simple. I only back the selections that are good odds - I never look at odds before I make selections.
I back win only, never each way.
Instead of an each way bet - as an example $50/each way.
I will back my horse $50 for the win.
I will take the $50 that could be used for the place bet and use it in selective trifecta combinations with my horse which I have backed for the win as a banker to run second and third.
Eg 4x1x8 and 4x8x1 costs $56 and offers far more value in a tri. than $50 as a place bet on the tote in a 50 each way bet.
That way I have pulled in some trifectas worth thousands of dollars. My $25 selection has run second and I've had another horse at good odds win and run third.
If I'd bet each way bet I would have won peanuts on the race.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is why I joined this forum.

Thank you Mr Ed.
