WFA RACING

To all my fellow form students,
How does one rate a 3Yo open winner against a Gr2 winner at WFA. I never seen a Redoubts Choice in the race.Just a 3Yo colt/gelding that caried 58/54 limit which equates to 4kgs over at WFA in his own age group I had Super 2kgs better than anything else in the race
Also is WFA racing easier or harder than Handicapping meaning is it weaker in class stature as you never see WFA horses racing against the handicapper much anymore.

I take it you're talking about Secateurs and Super Elegant. Secateurs was not rating that highly on my speed figures, and his best rating on Ozeform was just 61.5 kg, which is a lowly 90 on my ratings scale. I rated Super on a base of 106. Even allowing for improvement the 3yo was never going to be top rated in my book.

In regards to Hcps, as a general rule the big Hcps usually rate much higher than WFA races, imo.

good horses win the good races...its a known fact

thats why i said Super would win and Seca not run a place

BTW If you get a WFA sprint race like the Rubiton - then look for the class sprinter resuming (Horses return from a spell alone between 1000-1200 have a 40% Win S/R)

WFA racing is much better class than handicaps.
Generally the best horses will race in WFA events wherever possible as they will be weighted out of a handicap. In terms of rating, winning a handicap(G1) with a big weight(i.e Northerly, Sunline) rates very very highly but not neccessarily as high as a WFA win.

Chuck,

...come on - that statistic about 1st up horses is out of a Cornflake packet...

Maybe you mean that 40% of 1000-1200m races are won by horses resuming from a spell...but that doesn't help your argument re this race as that leaves 60% between the 3 of the 7 runners that were not first up.

What is the statistic and how was it helpful for this race?
