I've been taking particular note of many of the Brisbane riders. I have noticed that Paul Hammersley has been riding in wonderful form lately. For a boy who doesn't get on the favourites that often, he is surely riding like the group 1 jockey he is. Just watch his riding techniques, he doesn't get on favourites but he gets the long shots home or for a place

What an awesome effort! It paid $64 on qld tote, and the bookies had it at 101.

Paul actually was slammed into the barriers when the horse jumped which knocked about the metal plates in his arm (from a previous fall in Rockhampton) and left his elbow very bruised and swollen. He reports saying he was glad the horse didn't need to much riding out, cause all he could use was his stick due to his arm in pain!!! What an effort! He was then taken to hospital for x-rays etc.
