Tipping comps

Just like to know if you guys would like to tip on all games every week or prefer to pick out just 3 or 4 games each week as Moeee suggested. Seeing as it's really more of a punting comp than a tipping comp, I think Mo's idea has merit. There are some games each week in each comp that I wouldn't want to force anyone to make a tip in.

well depends on on what you want ....a tipping comp or a punters comp or both seprately ......
for a tipping comp I say pick the lot(compulsory) 1 point per win no points for draw or loss
for a punters comp and Ive aired my views on this before
Firstly I think you should only be allowed to place a certain amount of bets per week ie3( a bet consisting of single ,double,or treble- Max) the reason for this is the whole thing from my experience gets out of hand after a while
And run it on a calender monthly basis for the same reason as above ....
100 starting points Max bet 20 min bet 5 unless you have less than five points left and there seems to be enough Interest in Rugby League and AFL on this forum to run them in tandem ....but once again they are just my views Im not trying set any rules ......consensus being the name of the game

i agree seperate tipping comps and punting comps... we could use a deciding factor though if there is a tie/s . Something like you could get everyone to put in their predicted margin for the best game of the week, and then you get a continued "difference" total, which is how many points you are off the mark e.g. if you said the Eels would win by 12, and they won by 6, then the difference would be 6, and if you predicted the Eels would win by 24, and they lost by 14, it would be 38. Kinda simple, but it was just and example

Okay, this is what I think we should do.

We'll have a separate Tipping Comp for each sport where we'll have to tip on every game. There'll also be bonus points for closest margin in the match of the round. (or perhaps a cumulative margin as Chuck suggested)

As far as the punting comp is concerned, I think we should combine all 3 sports. You'll get a certain amount of money to spend and you can bet on any or all of the 3 football codes each week starting in a couple of weeks when the Super12 and Wizard Cup start and going right up to NRL Grand Final day. I think we should combine the sports, because that will allow people that want to, to take multi-bets across the different codes. What do you think of that idea?

Now, expressions of interest. Could you guys please give me some indication who wants to go in each of the tipping comps (AFL, NRL, Super12) or if you want to go in all of them.

I reckon I could be a goer for all the tipping and punter comps. I like the idea of combining the 3 main codes in the punters comp!!!

I sometimes don't get home from work til late on Fridays, will the comp info be available on Thursday nights?

Yep. You'll be able to put tips in before Friday.

very keen on the combined punter comp - and singular tipping comps

Sportz 14th February 2005 10:08 AM

With the Tipping Comps, how do you guys feel about tipping a margin on each game?

By that, I don't mean the exact margin like 8 points or 17 points or 45 points or whatever. I mean the margins that are commonly used by the bookies: For League and Union it's 1-12 & 13+ and for AFL I think it's 1-39 and 40+. I think we should pick margins on each game and if you pick the winning team by the correct margin you get 2 points, if you pick the winning team but get the margin wrong 1 point.

You know Sportz I only follow AFL so that's me.
I think actual tipping competitions are a dime a dozen so I think some kind of dedicated Gambling Competition is more preferable.
I like what you mentioned some weeks ago regarding the points you get for tipping a winner is related to the price that team starts at.
