Database Help

I have a database program. What information do I use and how do I input it into the program? Then how do test the data.

I want to test a couple of ideas that I have.

The data would be from the horese last run.

I would love to help you and I don't want you to share your ideas with me but at least you have to tell us if you just bought a database on it's own or some sort of analysing programme with a database attached?
