Lay system

1. Last start winner
2. Ridden by a claiming apprentice
3. Going up in class and distance
4. Barrier >6
5. Win <20%
6. Place <40%
7. Last start 7 days ago

Don't think there would be too many winners in this category.

lay system

ok ill admit im not the smartest sheep in the flock but would i b correct in assuming a lay is aplace bet??

Chuck 27th March 2005 08:07 PM

you and your sheep! "Lay" is where you back a horse to lose!

Gday fester..

nah a lay is to bet against a runner... on betting exchanges YOU can offer odds to other punters.. eg say you want to back Alinghi, and I am prepared to bet against alinghi, I will offer odds ( being the layer) ... say $100 at $1.70... You may want to take Alinghi at 1.70 (being the bettor)... if you take the full 100 on offer you collect 170 if alinghi wins, if she loses I keep your 100.

It's pretty simple... you get to play the bookie.. but be careful with what you are prepared to lay, you can go broke pretty quickly... alternatively you can make some nice money as well, in another thread we are looking at laying horses that have a formline of **11, that is laying horses going for their third winner in a row.. at the moment after a small sample the layer is winning, but that could change..

hope that helps
