Really Basic (Stupid) Question. Please Answer
 

Say NSW is paying $2.50 to win state of origin series and i put $100 on them do i recieve $250 or $150 or what ? Basically what i want to know is would i get $2.50 for every dollar and get my $100 dollars too or just get the $2.50 per dollar. I know this is probably th estupidest question but ive never betted before and i just wanted to know. Thanks

It works out to be:

Odds x Stake = Return

Profit = Return - Stake

So $100 Stake x $2.50 odds = $250 Return

So if NSW won you're profit would be $250 return - $100 stake which equals $150 profit
