Seeing there are a few unreliable tracks like Flemington, Kensington joke.

Which tracks do punters think are reliable for consistent form??
Rosehill comes to mind, although it suits frontrunners a little.
New outer track at Randwick appears to be good.

In my humble opinion Sandown is a lot worse than Flemington, at least you have a nice sprint track at headquarters.

I always stay away from Sandown especially on a wet track. Unless a horse is a tried and tested WINNER on a wet track I stay right away from it - no guess work.

If you want an ultra reliable track, try Ascot, Perth - from September through May. Track condition is invariably fast (only rains here in winter). Best thing is favourites have a poor run here, meaning great odds on winners - all you have to do is be able to pick 'em. In January this year there was a run of 28 consecutive races with the favourite missing out.
If you can't get a form guide you can dial straight into the WATC computer at http://www.waturf.org.au/scripts/ws...rf/findinfo.hts - they even give you the race book there for free!!

Thanks - yes WA site is good. The only problem I have with Perth racing is how slow most of the times are. Apart from the top 5 or 6 horses, the std seems to be very weak compared to Eastern states. ie most WA horses seem to run 72 secs on a fast track for 1200m - that's awfully slow.

How do you separate the wheat from the chaff in WA????

Thanks Tam, there are good days, and there are not so good days.

Unfortunately there can be bias at Ascot as well – the wind! Generally speaking I think Ascot suits those who race on or near the lead. But when the wind is a blowing (headwind that is), those that race more rearward can have a field-day.

As to times, check the early sectionals. We have many a race where the early pace is ridiculously slow, and the jocks continue to get away with it.

Given slow 1st sectionals - on-pace runners must have a field day in Perth, unless like you say there is a strong headwind.

Yes chief, the Freo Doctor can certainly play a part, especially if it comes in early.
