The $465,000 stake earner Finito who has not raced for three months but is a first-up winner seems sure to be heavily backed in the Bunbury Stakes.
Trainer David Harrison's Bunbury Stakes runners Storm Shot and Blevvo are thriving. They finished third and sixth, respectively, in last Thursday week's Chaff City Classic at Pinjarra.
"Storm Shot is jumping out of his skin," Harrison said yesterday. "He ran a great race after being forced wide on the home turn at Pinjarra. Blevvo will go to Sydney after running in the Bunbury Stakes and the Strickland Stakes at Ascot in three weeks."
Owner-trainer Arthur Mortimer will remove blinkers from the gear of Bunbury Stakes runner Tribula, who pulled hard and finished fourth in the Chaff City Classic.
A vet will examine Bunbury Cup topweight Exit Lane today and recommend if the gelding should start. The horse had hoof soreness after running third in yesterday week's Pinjarra Cup.
"Exit Lane still has slight swelling and probably won't race again until the Strickland," according to his trainer Megan Midgley.
Dashing Scene, unplaced after being blocked in the Pinjarra Cup, will be a Bunbury Cup runner for Midgley.
