I got chills got smashed!!
The Golden Slipper campaign of the David Hayes-trained I Got Chills is up in the air after a disappointing performance this morning in a barrier trial at Randwick on the Kensington track.
After travelling third on the fence, I Got Chills was quickly under pressure in the straight and ridden right out weakened to finish fifth. It would now appear unlikely trainer David Hayes will press on to the Golden Slipper after his glamour filly’s disappointing performance this morning.
The trial was won by I Got Chills stablemate Churchill Downs who trailed the speed and was pushed out along the final furlong to nab Casino Prince on the line.
The trial of the Anthony Cummings-trained Casino Prince was the talk of the track. The colt travelled off the speed but on straightening was hooked the widest and lengthened strongly on the bit hitting the front before being caught just on the line. On returning to the tie up boxes after the trial jockey Jim Cassidy declared, “he’ll win” the Golden Slipper on Saturday week.
Wonderful World put his Golden Slipper campaign back on track with good performance in finishing third.
Churchill Downs defeated Casino Prince by a half head with Wonderful World a neck away in third.
The time for the 850m trial was 50.14 and the last 400m was run in 23.70 and the last 200m in 12.14.
TAB Sportsbet has reacted quickly to the performances in the trial and Casino Prince is the new outright favourite at $4.50 ahead of Diego Garcia at $6.50. On the next line of betting is Miss Finland and Boom Time Savings at $9 with Churchill Downs and I Got Chills at $11.
