I think the NZ horses are starting to look good and take our measure. We haven't got much serious talent going around because our breeding industry is a mess, mostly producing overpriced rubbish from weak bloodlines with poor SR records from what they are producing. Fooram [NZ] walked in last start which wasn't a bad measuring stick of the Kiwi talent. Zabeet[NZ] might be the one to catch and Fooram's odds will be poor value. Miss Finland is heading places and Men at Work [NZ] might show Eremin up whose odds will be pathetic.

It all seems a bit of a dart throw with Group races this year. Shocking betting propositions except perhaps for exotics. A bookies picnic usually as how many surprises have we seen win these big races at big odds? Enough for a win punter to be well into loss chasing Group wins. How much money has been done by punters on Lad of the Manor in all his failures and he is only one of the disappointments. Our whole breeding industry needs one hell of a shake up. Too many rich idiots around who know nothing about race horses. They will buy anything and at stupid prices and as long as that goes on the industry is going to continue to sink into mediocrity.

Makabe Diva was a Champion because there was no compitition to compete against. 10-15 years ago she wouldn't have had half the runs on the board she ended up with.
