Hey all,

Not a bad day at Doomben today, hope the rain stays away though. We need it up here, but its really ruins the racing. Some pretty decent races, the quality has really tapered off though, as expected.

Race 1 - Aerosol, Soul Diva, Two Dancers

Like Aerosol here. He doesn't win out of turn, but he'll get on speed and give a really good show around Doomben. It was a bold effort last time around the Sunny Coast with its long straight and if he can get a kick around the turn today, i think he's a big chance. Soul Diva is a great chance, particularly with the form around Bikkie Tin Blues. Byrne will give her a great ride from the 6 alley too. Two Dancers is a horse on the way up who isn't without a chance here either. Probably didn't handle the track last time and so you can forget that run. The form prior to that is very good, especially for a race like this.

Race 2 - Maxy Legs, Naval Seal, Picture Book

Tough little race this one. I agree with Mav on Maxy Legs. She'll get back a bit out of the speed battle up front and should give her the last shot at them. She has run some great times around this track/distance and so from the 4 alley at nice-ish odds, she'll do me. Naval Seal will appreciate the easier class here, after running into Becks and Starlactic recently. He'll get right on the speed, especially from the 2 alley, and prove tough to run down. The freshen helps him too. Picture Book can surprise every now and then too. 1000m is his trip, so i wouldn't be discounting him at odds.

Race 3 - Go Sequalo, Falconten, Stipulation

Theres a few jumping off Go Sequalo today, im just not prepared to do it against this lot. He has the form on the board with good wins at Ippy and then EF in pretty good time/company. With the reasonable draw and the gun jockey, i think he's the one they need to beat. I wouldn't be putting my last on it, but then again, i'm not really a fan of fav's in 2yo races. Falconten won in good style last time at Toowoomba and the time was OK too. The way he finished off seems to indicate he'll appreciate the 1200m too. The only thing against is the fact that the Doomben straight is short, but there should be enough speed on for him. Stipulation is a first starter from the Maund camp sho bears watching. Strange that they've chosen this race, because from memory this stable gives them one or two before they bring them to town, at least later in the season, anyway.

Race 4 - My Son Day, Daneland, Kanpeki

Pretty tough here. Its not the greatest field of 3yos you'll ever see and so i think My Son Day should be able to get away with it. It was a top with last time at Ippy but he hasn't been able to reproduce those good runs in town. Maybe today is the day. Daneland has been racing in lesser company but has been racing with plenty of weight. With the drop to 53kgs today, don't be surprised if he is flying late. The 1350 will suit him too, by the looks of it. Kanpeki is a chance too, i suppose. Has run some good races in and around the place, but like many of the others, hasn't been able to do it on the saturday. Maybe in this easier field, she can produce the goods...the claim is nice too.

Race 5 - Bikkie Tin Blues, Classic Karla, Seven Crownies

Well Bikkie Tin Blues is tough to miss here. Although the record over the 2000m is pretty ordinary, that was achieved down south. While he has been up here, he has flourished so i see no reason he won't win again. The 1 alley is just a luxury, i would've had him on top from the outside. Classic Karla is down in the weights for a race like this for the first time in a while and must be given a chance there. Hasn't won for a while though, which is an issue for me. Seven Crownies was a good win last time, after apparently being trapped deep, and so if he hasn't been flattened by the run, is a chance again. Not the greatest race, especially considering its the start of the treble, but thats life.

Race 6 - Generalissimo, Appertain, Top Marc

Speaking of ordinary races, here is one right now. Most of these are well and truly over the hill. Maybe Generalissimo in front of Appertain and Top Marc. But thats all i got.

Race 7 - My Best Tycoon, San Franfrisco, Panzer

This is a good race though. I like My Best Tycoon. Has been running really well lately and has the luxury of going up in journey rather than stepping back like many of the others. From the 2 alley, should just sit behind them and pull out near the top of the straight and hopefully be too strong. San Franfrisco is dropping back from 1200m which isn't ideal, especially when he has won 6 at 1200m, but he isn't hopeless here on the back of some great runs...especially in the Eye-Liner. The 4 alley tops it all off for him, too. Panzer is a game old fellow who seems to bob up every now and again in races like this, so leave him out at your own peril.

Race 8 - Feelin Dandy, Birthday Bash, Hamah

Well Feelin Dandy should win this. Getting so much weight off Birthday Bash is the clincher. I can't see BB conceding 7.5kgs and still beating this bloke, assuming he backs up OK. The win last time was very good and so from the 2 alley, he'll just get on pace and give them all something to catch. Birthday Bash is the quality horse in the race, but he has been weighted like it. He can beat the rest of them, but i can't see him getting past Feelin Dandy. Hamah is a non-winner but the rest of them are too. I've settled on him because thats where the dart landed.

Not a bad day today, hope you all have a good one.
