1 A LITTLE NAUGHTY
Best ever was a fluked 2nd. [53kg] in a quality last January at 10/1, just beating Love and Money. Lastest a win in a C6 and LY1 and apart from a win in an open 3yr. old race last year that's as good as it gets for this girl. Seems to struggle to get 1200m [1 from 7 goes].
2 ANCA (NZ) 3yr, old filly who is one of the best of the bunch here. Well it's from NZ which says it all about our horses at the moment. NZ horses stole most of the Bris. carnival prize money. Should be in the money here.
3 BEAMER ....9yr. old. who's last win was a 12k Gold Coast race Sept. 05' Also won the Belina Cup at his previous start to that.
4 CAJUN STEEL ...Last 2 wins were both 7k races. Best ever was a 22k C3 at Canterbury in May 06'
5 ENTHUSIAST.....Won a recent Doomben BT over 800m by 4 lths in the dead. Won another BT on the Gold Coast last November. Hasn't won a race for 14mths. Stringing a picket fence of wins together in [very] weak races back in 04' is it's main claim to fame. Has won a lot of barrier trials in it's career too :-))
6 KATENIAN ...Another oldy [8yrs] who ran a good 2nd. to Allegro Spiritoso in a 17k open at Caloundra last start. Last win was a 75k 1200m QLT at Eagle Farm last Nov. The best win of his career. Who knows in this one ?
7 RASMUSSEN ... A good 3yr. old gelding on the up with a nice 2.5lth. win over the Socialist last week in a 40k 3yr. old open. The one to win this?
8 SIR BREAKFAST ....another one who hasn't won for over a year, but won a G2. An expensive horse to follow but a good place chance here.
9 SPUR ME ON ....Two 40k C6 wins is as good as it gets for this fella [ignore it's 2nd. up record].
10 STARLACTIC ...certainly in with a show in this and a lot better than most of this scrubby lot. Running good times in sprints with that ace Ric Mc Mahon on board. Close up 5th [1 lth] last start in a Grafton 126k and a 2nd. at Eagle Farm before that in a G3. A big improver capable of nabbing this.
11 VOCALIC ... Has won a Toowoomba maiden and a 25k metro, but did pull a rabbit out of the hat to just win a weak QLT 100k against Mosso. Also good at winning barrier trials but lost it's most recent one.
12 WORDS OF MAGIC ....doing OK for an 8yr. old lately. Just missed out by a neck last start at Grafton for $126k to For Valour.
With reasonable track conditions, barriers to suit and jocks, the winner should be Starlactic, Rasmussen or even Anca. Starlactic and Ric Mc Mahon should start favourite. Sir Breakfast and Words of Magic are both good place chances.
Now that Rasmussen has been geilded. my money would go for a bit of value with him to win and an Exacta saver with Starlactic who will be 'unders' for sure.
Good luck.
