was having a discussion at smoko with the boys at work today about our best wins at the punt ,boy are there some books to be written on this subject ? two episodes that stand out in my unspectacular punting life was the day i took one thousand large ones to have $500ew on tawriffic in the melb cup as luck? would have it on cup day at our golf club we have a nine hole comp in the morning and retire to the clubrooms to watch the races on the telly over a few beers.in my group was a man whose knowledge of racing is very sound and when he talks you listen.when i told him my intention of plonking for tawriffic he leant back in his chair and seemingly to me without drawing breath gave me a ten minute diatribe on weights, breeding, class and ability that left me wondering what the hell i was thinking about putting my stash on this 'horse' i had to force myself to have fifty bucks ew this thing at the tab then go back to the clubhouse and watch it win at 33's a lesson i have never forgot.. another memorable night for me was at the geelong trots where i backed the card .every winner ,the betting ring was not strong the bookies would not set you for large amounts but i took home nearly $5000 .makes all those losing days worthwhile.... OK you desparados got any great memories or sob stories on the punt?????????????????/
