here'a good story. i was 12 years old or so at the races with my family. i put $1 e/w on gold ruler in perth paying 100/1 and $1 win on some other cat at 50/1. Then i lost my wallet, so my old girl said pick ur best bet and i will put it on for you. so i said gold ruler and thus had a dollar e/w on it. it was the last race and after we went to race day office to see if my wallet had been handed in. What would you know it had and my $1 e/w ticket on gold ruler was still in there. thus i had a total of $2e/w on the bolter. it paid 80/1 and i collected about $200. a lot of money for a lad that age. actually still a lot of money for me.
another one of my favourites was when i was about 14. i went down to the local tab. i was staying with my nanna at the time for the weekend. she didnt bet but i persuaded her to drop me off. i then proceeded to back umrum in his subsequent first G1 toorak handicap win. He paid $43.
sorry i know you probably didnt want my life story but i thought i'd spin a yarn.
cheers
