You're right that was a rubbish explanation and this will be no better but any way

I lay A Little Rusty for 0.77 cents @ 9.6 = Liability $6.62
I lay Clews Place for 0.23 cents @ 32 = Liability $7.13

If neither win I win my $1 stake

If A Little Rusty wins I lose $6.62 minus 0.23 = $6.39
if Clews Place wins I lose $7.13 minus 0.77 = $6.36

So for my $1 my maximum liability is $6.39 (a $7.40 or there abouts chance)
