The picnics are more a test of the fittest classiest horse than horsemanship, but boy it got rough, elbows and whips in the straight.

I had some fun and frightening times though, I'll never forget the time I came off and three horses ran over me connecting. Thanks to the skull cap I was fine, but I salute the boys that do the real job in town.

My favourite was tear away tactics or the "super impose" move from last to first in 200m. Getting bunched in the field was easy to get bumped and horse put off stride and pace.
