This is a massive development and victory.
The implications are far more than just Perth, but welcome all sandgropers
Apparently there are some 1600 registered Betfair accounts from WA and a whole lot more who never bothered because of the laws.
The court also said the prohibition on using WA race fields denied the “use of an element in Betfair’s trading operations’’.
Which opens a floodgate for publishing harness fields.
Race fields can no longer be considered taboo, they are still the property of the race clubs, but are publicly available.
There is now no reason we cannot have Perth coverage, Victorian Harness fields and I'm hoping Hong Kong, but that's a different country.
