I have done the stats for the Melb cup .
The process I have used has picked the winner 9 years in a row.

Numbers
5 7 8 16 23 for 2 units

12 & 14 for 1 unit only because these hav not raced for 18+ days .

The Fav usually pays around the $6 mark , that's why its OK to bet like this.
