I would suggest that the reason for BeCareful's figure regarding the wet and the outside runners is that "generally" those horses have a better surface to run on. Is it not a common conception that, in the wet especially, the horses will move to the outside to run on better ground than those on the inside?

I have also developed a system taken from advice from several strands in the forum it goes like this:

Only bet each way on -
Listed or Group winners / place getters
Fresh runners (5 or less starts in a prep)
Weights of 59+
Inside rail if good/dead
Outside rail if slow/heavy
Horse must be down in class
On favoured track
It has to have won over track and distance (and has won on slow/heavy if track is wet)
Must be home State jockey onboard
Must pay more than $3.00 a win or $2.00 a place

The result of this is I have stopped punting!!!!!

(Just trying to bring some levity to a very serious thread!)
