Hi Gnarkley,

The odds on Betfair are definitely better than the TAB but it depends how much you are putting on, as the money is not always there in the Betfair market, especially if you like the longer priced commodities.

If you are backing favourites and are placing a maximum of a few hundred dollars on, then I've found Betfair is generally the way to go.

You will initially lose 5%, plus whatever the market percentage is (you can see this figure at the top of the back and lay columns) but these odds are generally better than the TAB's and the majority of bookies that I've come across. It's probably a good idea to watch a few meetings for yourself and compare odds.

Word of caution: Be careful when you start betting on Betfair, as it takes some time to get used to some features, like having to cancel your bets if they are not matched at a certain price, as you can find yourself with double the stake you first intended, it can be a costly exercise at the start.

I'd recommend asking a mate who uses it to show you around before you dive straight in.

Hope this is of some assistance Gnarkley and happy punting.

P.S. A few weeks back you mentioned you were having some success on the punt. How are you traveling now? I hope your streak has continued!
