George Hanlon received the ultimate accolade when his peers rated him one of the greatest trainers of the past half-century.
Fellow trainers declared the Australian Racing Hall of Famer, who died yesterday in Geelong aged 92, one of the icons of the sport.
"He was probably not far behind Bart Cummings. He just didn't have the charisma of Bart," Australian Trainers' Association president Colin Alderson said.
Hall of Fame trainer John Hawkes said Hanlon was a "super trainer, one of the all-time greats".
