I personally am flat stakes only wouldn't do a martingale staking if you paid me.

What you propose I think depends on the odds you are working to.

If they are all shorties you have got no hope.

Sorry didn't read your post fully on the highest win + place divi's.

If you are getting divi's like that why are you worried about a build up system.

You say you are ONLY a $5 better but add up 10 outs and tell me that you wouldn't be nervous putting the 11th bet on AND it can happen.
