Cox Plate combatants So You Think and More Joyous both made the trip to Moonee Valley on Thursday for a special workout.

For the Toorak Handicap winner More Joyous, it was her first look at the track where in 10 days she will face her biggest challenge against So You Think in the weight-for-age championship of Australia in the Cox Plate.

Respected Melbourne clocker Warren Huntly said the Gai Waterhouse-trained mare had “come through Saturday’s win in great shape” and he was impressed with the way she handled Moonee Valley.

“Moonee Valley appears to hold no fears for her,” Huntly said. “She worked strongly, built in her work from the 1200 metres and hit the line well.

“She ran her last 400 metres in just under 24 seconds.”

Huntly said So You Think has come through his demolition of rivals in the Yalumba in fine order and the horse blew out the cobwebs with an easy gallop.

“He had what I would call a maintenance gallop,” he said. “He cruised home the final 400 metres in 25.5 seconds under his own steam and it goes without saying he looked terrific.”
So You Think remains a dominant Cox Plate favourite at $1.70 with More Joyous a clear second elect at $7.50 at Luxbet and they are the only two runners in single figures in betting.
