Can that be set to auto scan each day or does it have to be activated manually each day.

I find it just slows the whole system down compared to Avast specially if you have an older system or less than 1 gig of mem.
Avast will runs scans for you every day or the days you choose at times you choose and if the pc is off it will run them when it starts next, it will update itself and scan your mail and also scan processes so if you go to a bad site and something tries to load to your system it will stop it dead.
Updates are often daily or when needed, there are many free programs out there but this one will run smoothly even on a low grade netbook. |
