many of the points made are possibly correct except that the randwick track has left a bit to be desired.

my complaint with sydney is a certain lack of competitiveness in the dominance of particularly the hawkes stable and a lesser degree waterhouse and the affect this has on competitiveness.

the tendency to have below standard numbers in the fields is a big problem on many occasions and over the past few years the golden slipper is going this way with very low numbers of competitors in the lead up races.
but several years ago the lowest class race on a saturday was "no greater than two metro wins in past year" but now its almost maiden class. there is a tendency also to have very high prizemoney for races with b/all starters. (this is also happening in melb now).
i know i sound a knocker but i used to claim sydney as the pride of australian racing once but its not these days. but hopefully it will come back.
