In his own words he "stuffed up" as Beasley let Grand Armee idle in front making it mathematically impossible for Lonhro to ever pick him up.
"He got to within three lengths at the 300 metres and I thought Grand Armee might be suspect but he put another three lengths on me," Beadman said.
"I should have got into the race earlier."
At least he acknowledges his mistake, unlike another N.Z. jockey who threw a race away and to this day argues he was right.
