Which brings up another point perhaps for another thread but should these bonuses be included in the record books. IMO no as they take away from the past performances of other great horses who have won the triple crown but never recieved such a bonus. I believe Smarty may break the record in any case but after only nine races i dont believe he has earned that accolade YET.
