Good to hear from you again, You post about as much as I do lately.
I was just interested in your remark about the guy that spends about $600 a race on Tri,s.
It can work depending on how you work your race out and what races you go into.
Many years ago I used to do only Tri,s and made very good money. My bets were between $300 and $800 a race depending on the structure of the odds in the race, AND a hell of a lot of races were left alone.
E.G 10 runners and the 5th favourite 15/1 or better. The obvious result 95% of the time was spend $300 to get $50 back, because of a favourites result.
I never knew a horse's name, whether it had 3 or 5 legs, I worked wholly and solely from bookies odds and the structure of the race.
The best races were say about 14 or 15 horse field with a 5/1 favourite and then the $800 would be spent, and I would go very wide in the market.
I NEVER had a losing day.
I used to aim for $500+ and stop.
I can hear all the Knockers already typing their keypads in reply.
The difference in those days was that there was only Syd Melb and Bris races and there was only 2 TAB trifecta races a day in each state.
I NEVER bet on the TAB races which left me with 18 races a day to bet on where the money in the trifecta pool WAS ON COURSE MONEY ONLY.
E.G say a mid week Canterbury, average pools were Bris $6000 Melb $10000 and Syd $20000.
EVERY DAY there would be a SWITCH in 1 or 2 races the Tri paid on because of a donkey result and 99% of the time I had the switch.
The best examples I can give you is Rosehill my first bet of the day was Bris and the Tri paid on 1st 2nd any. I had 1st 2nd with 3 horses for 3rd.
The tri paid $1900+ so I had it 3 times.
THAT WAS THE TOTAL ON COURSE POOL.
These days this cannot happen.
That was my best result the worst was a mid week Canterbury last race of the day which was a melbourne race, I was $4600 down for the day with that bet on and it switched and the tri paid $4660. I assume someone else also had the switch hence the divi.
The person you mentioned has maybe come up with some sort of pattern in certain races and if so it can possibly work.
Since ALL races went TAB I have tried the beat it but cannot.
