It's coincidental you mention Place betting based on the price of the fave. Yesterday (whenever I was at my computer) I backed multiple selections for the Place on Betfair in almost every race solely based on their Place prices (usually in the favoured end of the market). It was a good result. I didn't compare their prices against the TAB but we can be almost certain they weren't as high as Betfair.

So last night in England I bet exactly the same Place method but with S.P. - again it was a good result. I am now considering temporarily stopping Lay betting.
