MENS-CYCLING ROAD RACE 14/8
Spain reported to have a very strong team, with three riders (Valverde 9/1, Astarloa 30/1, Freire 16/1) all capable of winning.
Italy also a strong squad, with team captain Paolo Bettini (7/1) probably the World's #1 single day rider based on his two consecutive World Cup titles.
Defending Olympic champion Jan Ullrich (9/1) of Germany has a strong team behind him as well.
Alexandre Vinokourov 9/1 (Kazakhstan) is determined to better his 2000 Olympics silver medal.
With Stuart O'Grady (7/1) and Robbie McEwen (13/1) at the start, Australia could deliver a medal.
Belgium also has a decent team with the crafty, experienced Van Petegem (16/1) and an in-form Axel Merckx (80/1!).
Dutch dangerman Erik Dekker (30/1!) certainly has the ability to win, and his form has improved after the Tour De France.
Both Norwegian riders Thor Hushovd (11/1) and recent Tour of Denmark winner Kurt-Asle Arvesen (60/1!) are also strong riders.
George Hincapie - USA (40/1) is always a danger man in a high-stakes one day race.
