I am a bit bias with my vote – Northerly. Any horse that can beat Sunline twice at WFA must be pretty good. He also has WFA wins over Shogun Lodge & Universal Prince. Most recent starts, had a win & close 2nd to Old Comrade. Over here in the West, we all know how good Old Comrade is.

Taking off my Sandgroper hat, I agree with both Tennesse Blue & Rain Lover that Ethereal is also worth a vote. Now retired to stud, Ethereal’s record speaks for itself - Career Record: 21 starts; 8 wins; 1 second; 3 thirds. Career Earnings: NZ$5,757,985.
Won - Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m)
Won - Group 1 VATC Caulfield Cup (2400m)
Won - Group 1 VRC Tooheys Melbourne Cup (3200m)
Won - Group 1 STC BMW Stakes (2400m WFA).
Won - Listed BTC Doomben Roses (2020m)
