Just for interest I ran a little experimental data drill today which you might find useful.
We all know that the more horses there are in a race the more interference is caused. In fact I won't bet a race with more than 12 horses ......... but that's as maybe.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I ran a query on Barriers 1 & 2 against Beaten Distance where the field size is (a) 8 or 9, and (b) 13 or 14, distance 1150 to 1699, going F & G.
What do you reckon ??
Well, the 8/9 field gave an ABD 1.25 len LESS than the 13/14 field so that gives you an idea of the size of the correction you need to apply when handicapping races to allow for field.
It will not, of course, affect those of you who rely on coincidence and place yr faith in "systems"
