Thanks becareful. The totes in Canada are run by the track with 'guidelines' stated and monitored by a government agency called the OLGC (Ontario Lotteries and Gaming Commission -- similar ones in other provinces). A similar thing runs in the U.S. Under some casino licenses there is wagering offered in casinos and certain areas but it's difficult to know what's going on there so you have to know what you're doing. There is also off-shore sportsbooks offered on-shore, if you will. I'm certainly no expert on these but it would seem they are ill advised.

As for websites, there's tons. I find the easiest place to start is where it all comes together. Then there are links from there. If you go to http://www.equibase.com you will have no shortage of information. Also http://www.drf.com (Daily Racing Form) which is our most ubiquitous racing form.
