I leave CP, CF & Tim on 3 and change all the rest to 0. (Although, I usually put TA on 1 just to stop read errors if there are blanks in the first three... wish they would change the blanks to zeros to stop these errors). I like horses that are in the top 2 for each of CP, CF and Tim and have small beaten margins in their last races... and are fine with the distance. Cross referencing them with ratings like Qtab helps to eliminate anomolies the neurals spit out sometimes. I usually get very consistent place results but have been fiddling with Price Predictor Pro software to see if I can eliminate having to wait for Qtab ratings and haven't quite got the mix quite right yet.
