Your point is well made , but some horses who like to lead such as Sunline run better when the speed is hectic and they can run there opposition of there legs.

These horses are more adaptable to these sort of races so when they get a slow run up front resulting in a sprint home they are sometimes blown away by a sprinter down the outside such as Defier did on Saturday.

Good jockeys like C Munce and D Beadman and the likes are very good at determining the speed of the race during the running and can therefore position there mounts in an advantageous position , such as what Munce did on Defier , he realised the speed was slow and knew if he was close to Sunline at the turn he would sprint her down which is what happened and if Lonhro got a clear passage down the straight it would have been a awesome show between Defier , Lonhro and Excellerator which i agree was a super run.
