Gday Chuck..
I reckon ya would have some pretty quiet afternoons...
-Hurdles/Steeples
To me they seem to be one of the safest more predictable bets to have.. Older horses, plenty of form, run pretty true to form generally... I love the jumps pity the season is so restricted
-Maidens
They are volatile sure, but by jeez ya can snag some nice winners
-2YO Hcps
Again I see no reason to exclude them... they are volatile so you have the chance of finding a nice winner amongst them.. the other way to play them is just play the stables..
-Mares
Against each other are a fair sort of bet, but not one of my favz I gotta say
-Class 1-5
There goes my bread and butter... I am making an assumption here that you will bet in those ordinary RMW races they hold in the city? If so, I would reconsider the Class 1 - 5, as those RMW races are pretty much lotteries.. dodgy form, dodgy horses etc...but then again you can jag some nice winners... For mine Class 6 OPEN and TRANS races are usually pretty boring affairs with the same old faces running around, and to me it seems to depend on what day of the week as to who's turn it is to win..
-3YO fillies
I can't see any real reason not bet in these races if you find something that takes your fancy ... they are restricted by age and sex and sometimes class... that seems pretty straight forward
-WFA
That takes care of a lot of Group Class races... I dont understand your thinking there at all... Being logical I would guess that you would also put the pen through any set weight races..
From what I can work out you are left with Group and Listed Handicaps... Quality Handicaps... Open Handicaps.. Flying and Welter Handicaps Transitional Handicaps and Class 6 Handicaps... along with 3yo colts and geldings handicaps... plus those horrible RMW races.. there are probably a few more I can not think of...
I dont know where my punting account would be without the wonderful racing that is held all around our great country.. I do not exclude any meeting from my betting plans because it is run in a country location.... I really should exclude some of the Melbourne Metro tracks.... as a matter of fact, I have far more success with country meetings than I seem to with the metro.. It;s just the way it works out for me..
I am all for having a good dig when you are betting... Have a bet here have a bet there IF your ratings are ok you will come out in front, but I do think that some punters can be a bit precious about the races they bet on.. They still pay the same for a $5 winner of a Port Macquarie maiden as they do on a Group 1 Handicap winner at $5 at Flemington, and the winner was probably easier to find at Port.
Just my thoughts
