probably right.
many 3 year olds stepping up to a distance they have never faced and most likely not to face again are not good guides to their best performances.
i recall one of freedmans horses (i think) cant grab the name but won both derbys (vic and nsw) but only ran over sprints later on.
although his runs included a first up second in the cox plate.
