I appreciate this forum and I always follow the selections, basing most of the forum tipsters selections in my box quinella's and trifectas.
After the win by God's Own in the Guineas yesterday (remarkable given that he was floored on two occassions) I must say that most of the Stakes Races are a good pointer to some of this big spring races.
Can anyone tell me what is or are strong races leading up to the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup that most horses run in before either winning or placing in the two big Cups in Victoria around this time of the year.
When Makybe Diva won the Melbourne Cup in 2003, prior to that he had won the Geelong Cup and when I saw that run I knew she would run some race in the Melbourne Cup and for sure she did, winning off-course.

Think you've got the wrong horse in mind, Media Puzzle won the Melbourne Cup in 2002 after winning the Geelong Cup, but Makybe Diva has never raced at Geelong let alone win there, she in fact raced in the Turnbull Stakes and the Caulfield Cup before winning the Melbourne Cup in both 2003 & 2004.
The best lead up races to the Caulfield/Melbourne Cups are the Craiglee Stakes & the Turnbull Stakes while the Caulfield Cup has also been a good lead-up race to the Melbourne Cup as well.
