TOUGH feature events winner Alibi Bay, who has made a complete recovery from a leg injury, is on target for the Swan Draught Pinjarra and Bunbury cups over 2200m in March.
The five-year-old Lomond Bay gelding, trained by Paul Miller, knocked a leg on BMW Perth Cup eve four weeks ago and connections decided to scratch him from the Ascot marathon.
"He had tendon sheath swelling before the cup and we didn't take risks with him," Miller said yesterday. "But there was no damage to the tendon and Alibi Bay has resumed training without any sign of problems. He is going very well in beach work."
Alibi Bay has improved since he ran second in last year's Pinjarra Cup. He won the Easter Cup (2200m) three weeks later and was an Ascot Gold Cup (2200m) winner last November.
The horse was placed at his past two starts - in the Towton Cup (2200m) and Cox Stakes (2400m).
