It was definitely a good track when the cup was run. Just because it doesn't say that officially, doesn't mean anything. The track didn't magically become good AFTER the cup. The track was absolutely perfect at cup time, not too dry, not too wet, just absolutely spot on to give every horse it's chance, and to minimise the risk of injury. Perhaps you and others are forgetting that Makybe Diva ran an incredible 1.58.3 on a dry track in the Australian Cup this year. I have no doubt that she could have won if the track had been harder, but it is policy these days to try to make sure that there is some give in the ground, not just for her, but for all horses.
